This piece was inspired by a work with a simular name, (Cassius
Clay, 1981) by the reknown artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat, depicting
the boxer Muhammad Ali. Ali was a heroic figure that Basquiat
deeply identified with. Ali’s impact on sports and social justice
aligned with Basquiat's broader artistic narrative, celebrating black
heroes while critiquing societal issues.
